The League responded to the invitation from the Ministry of Justice and, together with Brno Center for Human Rights and Democratization and Environmental Legal Service, contributed to the debate on how to streamline the work of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Grief and anger at FIDH following the kidnapping and assassination of Natalia Estemirova
This morning, around 8.30 am, in Grozny, the defender working for the Memorial Human Rights Centre, Natalia Estemirova, was kidnapped as she was leaving her home. She was found dead a few hours later in Ingushetia with two gunshot wounds, in head and chest.
States have a duty to consider rights of the disabled people
European Court of Human Rights decided in April the case of Glor vs. Switzerland. In this case, ECHR states that Mr. Glor was discriminated against because his disability was not considered when deciding about a fee for not absolving the obligatory civil service. For the first time in history, ECHR referred to the new UN Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.

Rise in criminal cases against members of political parties
The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and its member organisation the Kyrgyz Committee for Human Rights (KCHR) are concerned about the recent rise in criminal cases against members of political opposition parties and their relatives in Kyrgyzstan.
