NGOs urges Council of Europe to deal with coercive sterilizations

On 19 February 2009 LIGA together with coalition of human rights organizations sent a letter to the Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Thomas Hammemberk to draw his attention to the unresolved issue of the coerced sterilization of Romani women in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia.

The letter was also signed by the European Roma Rights Centre, Peacework Development Fund, Life Together, Center for Reproductive Rights and the Group of Women Harmed by Sterilisation.
