LIGA participated on the World respected childbirth week

On 16 May, as part of the program organized during the World respected childbirth week organized by Hnutí za aktivní mateřství and Unie porodních asistentek took place lecture by the LIGA lawyer David Zahumenský on possibilities of effective protection of parents. LIGA sees the area of child birthing together with the psychiatry as the most conservative and less patient-friendly area of the Czech health care services.

Experience of LIGA clients show that Czech mothers are still seemed as not having any rights during the childbirth and there are heavy interferences with the right to family life through taking the child away from the woman. Also during the discussion after the lecture people were calling for more information to the parents as well as to health care professionals. Doctors have the possibility to participate on seminars organized by LIGA and patients can have their questions answered through LIGA online consultancy.
