“Fair schools don’t discriminate”
Liga’s project "Fair schools", continued with a series of seminars developed for and aimed at educational consultants; academics concerned with the prevention of discrimination in schools; civics teachers, and other interested parties from the educational community. The seminars took place at the Faculty of Education at
The participants were made aware of, not only the legal definition of discrimination, but also the possibilities and options available, of implementing anti-discriminatory policies and schemes into both, a school’s basic educational program, as well as into its teaching methods. All the recommendations made, were based on pupils’ own experiences in experimental situations.
The primary goal of “Fair schools” seminars, is to improve the knowledge and skill-set of all those working in the educational sphere, in dealing with the complex problem of discrimination. The secondary goal is linked with the complex task above, and provides aid to educationalists, to help them to present these anti-discriminatory ideas to their pupils, and to help them to develop in this area, through prepared activities.
